Positive feedback: Policy Change

The council recently discussed updating our ordinances around short-term rentals (like VRBO and AirBnB) in the city. It was a interesting discussion working to balance the rights of property owners with that of their neighbors.

We looked at things like notification rules, licensing fees, minimum stay requirements, and more. Over several council meetings we took in a lot of resident feedback and were able to craft a policy that I think will help protect the character of our neighborhoods and enable some property owners to rent out their properties.

After the vote, I received this constituent feedback:

Thank u for hearing all the owners the other night. You guys do a very good job listening to your constituents. I thought your approach to this whole deal was logical, fair, thoughtful and encouraged input from all. Thanks for hearing everyone-much appreciated!
